How Are Stem Cells Obtained at Medcell?

At Medcell, the stem cells we use are specially selected mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from umbilical cord donations from healthy, full-term births in Colombia. Our collection and preparation process is rigorous:

  • Umbilical cord donations come exclusively from healthy women after normal cesarean deliveries in Colombia who voluntarily participate in our donation program.
  • We only accept donations from families who have undergone thorough medical screening to ensure the absence of infections and other risks. Our donors provide informed consent, complete a detailed questionnaire, and provide a blood sample.
  • The mothers’ blood undergoes extensive testing to detect various infectious diseases, following international blood bank guidelines.

How Are Stem Cells Administered at Medcell?

At Medcell Stem Cell Center, stem cells are administered through various methods tailored to the patient’s condition and specific needs. Our comprehensive care plan typically includes at least three rounds of stem cell treatments. These treatments can be administered via:

  • Intravenous (IV): Infusion directly into the bloodstream.
  • Intramuscular: Injection into muscle tissue.
  • Intrathecal: Injection into the cerebrospinal fluid to target the central nervous system.
  • Perilymphatic: Injection around lymph nodes.
  • Intraarticular: Injection into joints under imaging guidance.

Sample Treatment Protocol at Medcell:

  • Duration: 4 days of treatment / 5 nights accommodation
  • Day 1: Physical exam and blood tests
  • Days 2-4: Three intravenous infusions
  • Intramuscular and intraarticular injections as needed

What Are Mesenchymal Stem Cells from Human Umbilical Cord Tissue?

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from human umbilical cord tissue are a type of adult stem cell known for their ability to aid in the regeneration of damaged tissues and modulate the immune system. At Medcell, we utilize these cells, harvested from the umbilical cord after healthy, full-term births, and specially select them for their high potency and low risk of rejection in therapeutic applications. MSCs from umbilical cord tissue have demonstrated significant promise in regenerative medicine due to their capacity to promote healing and reduce inflammation, without the ethical concerns associated with embryonic stem cells.
